The Ukrainian men's national volleyball team wrapped up its debut season in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League with a defeat to Canada in the final match of the group stage.

In Ljubljana, Slovenia, Raúl Lozano's men fell to their opponents 1:3.
This was a do-or-die match: a 3:0 or 3:1 victory would have sent the "blue-and-yellows" directly to the Final Eight.
A 3:2 win or a 2:3 loss would have kept their chances alive for a playoff spot, while a 0:3 or 1:3 defeat would close all doors for Ukraine — and, unfortunately, that's exactly what happened.
Despite their strong desire to make the best-case scenario a reality, Ukraine came up short.
The second and third sets turned into a real test of nerves — both ended with the narrowest of margins. The third set was especially dramatic: Ukraine was leading 21:18 late in the set but couldn't seal it. In the fourth set, Canada once again took control and confidently closed out the match.

This Nations League season was a historic milestone for Ukraine. It was a debut full of challenges, spectacular victories, and fights until the very last point. Most importantly, the team secured its place in the elite division ahead of schedule and is guaranteed to play in the 2026 Nations League.
Thank you to the team for the emotions, the character, and the fight! Now, eyes set on the World Championship!
