Oleksandr KOVAL: “We’re going through a rough patch”
Ukraine’s middle blocker Oleksandr Koval shared his thoughts on the team’s start at the World Championship, the series of defeats, and his personal feelings about playing in the tournament.

“We’ve been going through a rough patch since the last week of the Nations League. But we are working on changing that. We still have two matches left – everything is still in our hands.
The losing streak? I can’t say exactly what it’s connected to. Maybe because right after the club season ended, we immediately started playing the Nations League, and we basically played almost with the same roster. But every match is in our own hands.
This tournament has been a dream of mine since childhood. I think every volleyball player dreams of playing at this level, and once you get here, you just want to play and show the best moments you’re capable of. Personally, of course, I’d like to spend more time on the court and help the team.
The World Championship is a unique experience that you can’t get in Ukraine by just playing the domestic league. So here I try to take in everything, watch all the games, follow the players I like, and learn things that I’d like to add to my own game.”
