Gods of the Volley — is a volleyball club founded in 2023 in Berlin. The idea arose as a result of many years of love for volleyball and the desire of the founder — Denys Yakovchuk — to create a sports community where sport unites, inspires and gives people the opportunity to develop both personally and as a team.
Moving from Ukraine to Germany, Denys used volleyball as a tool for socialization, building new contacts and professional realization. This is how the Gods of the Volley initiative was born, which began to develop first in Brandenburg, and later — in Berlin.
In 2023, Denis completed coaching training at the Landessportbund Berlin (LSB) and received a category C coach license, which was an important step in his professional growth.
During the training, we met with the players and representatives of the BC Lions Moabit club, in particular with its founder Andy Ribould — initiator and leader of a sports project that has been uniting about 1,000 participants for over 10 years.
The main area of activity of the club — basketball, however, the organization is actively expanding its sports profile, opening up new areas, in particular volleyball and sambo.
This meeting became the basis for partnership initiatives between BC Lions Moabit and Gods of the Volley, aimed at developing volleyball as part of Moabit's diverse sports environment.
In the same year, 2023, Denis held his first volleyball training sessions in Moabit, and later formed permanent training groups.Today, the Gods of the Volley club holds training sessions five times a week for over 100 participants of various levels of training.
In Moabit, Denys also found his personal happiness — during training, he met Anna Filipchuk, an active player who also moved from Ukraine to Berlin.
Their shared love of volleyball grew into a strong relationship and marriage. Anna has become not only a life partner, but also an important part of the club's development. In 2024, she also completed her coaching training at LSB Berlin and received her C-coaching license. Anna now coaches beginners and women's teams.
During 2023-2024, the Gods of the Volley club implemented a number of important events and competitions:
participation in the international tournament International EasterCup,
organization of internal tournaments with the participation of teams from Berlin and Brandenburg,
participation in the Familiensportfest Berlin in September 2023,
classes with children in schools, where volleyball is offered as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Today, Gods of the Volley continues to actively develop as an independent volleyball community, which, in partnership with other clubs, in particular BC Lions Moabit, promotes volleyball as an accessible, socially important and inclusive sport.
The club's mission is to create quality training programs for children, youth and adults, support women's sports, and promote the ideas of equality, integration and mutual respect through volleyball. Sport at the club is not only about the result, but above all about humanity, inspiration and community.
